"My degree is in biology and I've always been fascinated by the anatomy and morphology of plants and animals--while at the same time--felt a strong pull to design and create. Transforming gemstones, wire and sheets of metal into flowers, vines and botanical abstractions is a natural culmination of these two paths."Wendy Stauffer of Fuss Jewelry®
Fuss is a unique collection of artisan jewelry by Wendy Stauffer. Wendy's twin backgrounds in biology and design lead to the work that you see here. Her efforts in the studio focus on recreating flowers, vines and other natural themes from gemstones, pearls, wire and sheet metal. Since 2005, Wendy has designed and created every piece that has left her studio and joined the collections of women around the world.
Wendy's work often explores leaf and petal motifs and the rhythmic rise-and-fall wave patterns found in nature. While freeform and organic, her creations are tempered by an underlying nod to tenable structure and balance. The juxtaposition of raw and organic with delicate and romantic accents is another often expressed theme in her work.
As a jewelry artisan, Wendy often applies wire wrapping to traditional metalsmithing techniques. Her work employs a unique and original application of wire wrapped fringe accents to bezel set stones and explores the recreation of flowers and vines with precious sheet metal, wire, gems and pearls.
Wendy Stauffer received her BS in Biology at Trinity College in Hartford, CT but soon after worked several years as a graphic designer. She is self taught as a jewelry artisan and has been selling online and in high end boutiques since 2007.
